Causal Logic

چکیده
This paper proposes a logic for causal based on event trees. Event trees provide a natural and familiar framework for probability and decision theory, but they lack the modularity that would make them convenient models for a logic. Our logic overcomes this deficiency by elaborating the idea of an event tree to that of an event space. This is a space containing situations or instantaneous events, which are related by relations of precedence, refinement, and impliation.

A Causal Logic of Logic Programming
The causal logic from (Bochman 2003b) is shown to provide a natural logical basis for logic programming. More exactly, it is argued that any logic program can be seen as a causal theory satisfying the Negation As Default principle (alias Closed World Assumption). Moreover, unlike well-known translations of logic programs to other nonmonotonic formalisms, the established correspondence between l...
متن کاملA Study on the Causes of Corruption Control at the Macro Level Based on Fuzzy Logic
Corruption as one of the realities of today's society has had unprecedented growth in the administrative, political and economic systems of the world and according to the International Transparency Institute, no region or country in the world is immune to corruption. In this article, with theoretical speculations, we are looking for a comparative study of the necessary and sufficient conditions...
متن کاملOn Relating Causal Theories to Other Formalisms
This paper explores mathematical relationships between the \causal theories" formalism recently introduced by the authors and several other (well-known) formalisms. More specii-cally, it relates causal theories to default logic and autoepistemic logic, and describes translations back and forth between causal theories and classical propositional logic. It also relates action representations in c...
متن کاملCausal Theories as Logic Programs
We show how we can rewrite any causal theory — under the semantics of causal logic due to McCain and Turner — as a logic program in the answer set semantics. Using this translation the models of any causal theory can be computed using answer set solvers.
متن کاملEPDL: A Logic for Causal Reasoning
This paper presents an extended system EPDL of propositional dynamic logic by allowing a proposition as a modality for representing and specifying direct and indirect effects of actions in a unified logical structure. A set of causal logics based on the framework are proposed to model causal propagations through logical relevancy and iterated effects of causation. It is shown that these logics ...
متن کاملRepresenting first-order causal theories by logic programs
Nonmonotonic causal logic, introduced by Norman McCain and Hudson Turner, became a basis for the semantics of several expressive action languages. McCain’s embedding of definite propositional causal theories into logic programming paved the way to the use of answer set solvers for answering queries about actions described in such languages. In this paper we extend this embedding to nondefinite ...
